Games with Demon Baby

As you can imagine, Demon Baby doesn't play games like other kids. His games are weirder.

Take Trivial Pursuit. He takes out the game board. He hands me cards. I make up questions, like, "What is 3 + 5?" or "What sound does a cow make?" When he gets the question correct, he gets a wedge. When he fills the round wheel, he gets to make a wish. (His rules, not mine.)

Last night, he filled the wheel in record time (I was too tired to invent challenging questions).

"I get to make a wish now."

"All right. Go ahead."

MINUTES later, his eyes were still closed.

"That's a long wish."

"No, just a hard one."

"Well, what are you wishing for?"

"Guess."

"All right, to be taller?" (Common wish for him.)

"Nope."

"For a toy?"

"Nope."

"Do NOT trot out the baby brother wish again. Please."

"Nope."

"I give up."

"I made a wish for you."

"For me? What kind of wish?" (A little teary-eyed, then panicky that he might wish for TWIN baby brothers or something.)

"I wished for you to get a unicorn."

"A UNICORN?!"

"Yeah."

"Um . . . wow. I am touched. Um . . . do you think I LIKE unicorns?"

"Everyone likes unicorns. They're cool. I think you should have one. It would make you happy. A pet unicorn."

"All right. But you know? Having you as my Demon Baby makes me happier than having a unicorn, so if the wish doesn't come true, you know, that's okay."

"Cool. Next wish? A pet giraffe for you. Trust me. It will make you really happy."

"Great. But maybe just wish for a laundress." (I'm just saying . . . )

One of my boys told me yesterday that I needed to get a boyfriend so I could have more babies! At least DB is much more creative than that.

Wouldn't the world be a fascinating place if every wish from every kid under say 5 came true, even if they were temporary?

I smell a story coming on.

My word verification is tudbuble. I like the sound of that word.

Imagine if he wished for twin Demon Babies. Now that would be interesting.

He pushes for the baby brother a lot. But with four kids . . . . ain't happening.

I can tell you, in my house that would mean pet dragons and all kinds of chaos. ;-)

I PRAYED for him to be twins. Both my sisters have twins and I wanted twins so badly. I knew he would be my last, and I thought "Five kids would be SO awesome." Prayed, and prayed.

And clearly God knew what he was doing because if there were two of them, I would be dead.

A slightly time-consuming pet but certainly a conversation starter. He is obviously well tuned into your moods and thinks you need a little cheering up but I agree that the laundress would be an excellent gift. That would make me happy.

We spend so much time together, I think we actually read each other pretty well. He seems to know when he is on my last raw nerve. ;-)

That was a superb wish. I used to collect unicorns. They are cool. All I left from my coolection is a musical unicorn. He revolves around on his hind hoofs.

That was supposed to read: All I have left from my collection is a musical unicorn.

I had a cousin who collected them . . . they are neat. But not my idea of a pet. LOL!

I'm collecting stuff like this kids say during RPG games. And this is one of the coolest things I'd read to date :)
