Does marketing work? Ladies and gentlemen, I present to you . . . Exhibit Demon:
"Mom?" Demon Baby comes and stands by my desk chair and taps me on my arm. "I need you to get me something."
"What?"
"Soft cotton."
I look up from my computer. "I beg your pardon?"
"Yeah."
"Yeah what?"
"Soft cotton."
"I don't understand? Is it a toy? I've never heard of this toy? Say it again slowly."
Looking at me like I am an idiot, he pronounces it: "SOOOOOOOOFT COTTTTTTON!"
"Soft cotton?"
"Yeah, soft cotton."
I am completely confused. "I still don't get it. What is it you WANT?"
"It's on a commercial. Soft cotton. I think I need it."
"You mean, like those cotton commericals?"
"Yeah. And because you're my mom and you love me, and you're like the best mom I have--"
"I'm the ONLY mom you have."
"That too. And because you love me, you should really get me the best. Soft cotton."
Walks away.
So there you go, cotton industry. Apparently, your ads work.

Those are great ads. With people jumping into all this fluffy cotton and looking rapturous. If you were a nice mommy you'd get him some cotton.
Now I know why he's running naked all the time. You're making him wear itchy sweaty synthetic fabrics, AREN'T YOU?
Robin:
It amuses me to no end these commercials "speak" to him at 3.
E
Jude:
Nope. I am evil, but not THAT evil. Not only do I buy him soft stuff, but I cut out all the tags or buy tagless, thinking he might actually WEAR it. So far, . . . um . . . NO.
E
Hope you know I was joking.
When I was little my grandmother made me go to a church where they shouted, and I had to wear wool trousers and greasy stinky stuff in my hair.
Kids have it so easy these days.
best 'splain to him, lucy, all the things made of cotton, including blue jeans! ;) lol
*claps hands*
I love it! I know it's awful when commercials tell kids what to bug their parents for, but I worked in advertising for so long that it makes a small part of me happy.
I would've busted out laughing at the soft cotton. :)
Hah! I wonder if they aimed it at 3 yr olds.
OT: Your website and other blog seem to be down. Major bummer. :-(
Jude:
LOL! I cannot wear wool. Ever. Makes me itch.
laughingwolf:
Hmm . . . cotton = clothes. Maybe I have him there.
Nah. He'll figure out a loophole.
E
melanie:
I know. He has never once asked for a TOY on a commercial. But soft cotton? Yes.
E
sarah:
Hmm . . . hopefully just a temp glitch.
E
he finds a loophole, sew it up! ;) lol
OMG Erica, I swear if you can't get someone to publish your demon baby book, you HAVE to put it out yourself, I have to have all this in a bound book form. I just HAVE to.
